Integrated Cartridge vs. Ink Tank Cartridges: There are two kinds of cartridges : 1) integrated cartridges which cartridge and printhead is built into one unit, such as PG30, PG40, PG50, PG210, PG240, CL241, PG243, CL244, PG245, CL246, PG260, CL261, and 2) ink tanks without printhead, such as pgi250, pgi270 , and pgi280. Ink level: The ink level is controlled by a chip on the cartridge. For integrated cartridges, you can ignore the “low ink” warnings and turn off the ink monitoring, see video gNbQS2kWliQ. For ink tanks, pgi280 and cli-281 doesn’t need a chip resetter and see video BnXjUVfSDms. For other ink tanks, you will need either a chip resetter of refillable cartridges with ARC chip. The seller for the resetter or refillable cartridges will give the instruction. For mega tanks, you can put the ink into the used OEM bottles to fill up the printer. Priming: All integrated cartridges have a little box above printhead nozzles. If you refill the cartridge before this box gets empty, then you don’t need to prime. However, if you run the box empty then fill up the cartridge, you will need to suck some ink from the bottom to get the box filled. Maximum Compatibility. The ink is compatible to all Canon printers. The black is compatible with PG, PGI, PGBK, and CLI blacks. For printers with two black cartridges, the same ink can be used in both, for example, pgbk and photo black.
